What I Learned
- What was the biggest challenge you faced in creating your store?
Trying to think of a store/business name... Other than that probably understanding collections and how they differ from products.
- What worked really well when using our platform?
- Promotions/discounts
- Tagging products
- Uploading images
- What could be improved when using our platform?
I could not figure out how to update the domain without having to purchase one.
Help pop-up on each of the pages that directs you to the help center article it corresponds with. I had to go through a few articles sometime to make sure I was doing what I needed to correctly so I had to open the doc multiple times.
Also when I was picking an image for the logo, it would not allow me to scroll down under the Sports icon page, so I had to go with the only golf logo there was.
- How did this experience help you build empathy for our merchants?
From a positive perspective, anyone can open an ecommerce website in under 2 hours and I think that is pretty cool.
I do have some website building experience which helped guide me through this process a little more seamlessly. For someone perhaps less technically savvy, there are a lot of different features and functions on this platform that can be overwhelming. So being able to sympathize with this and understand everyone is coming with a different skillset.
- What is your biggest takeaway from this experience?
That Shopify goes above and beyond to aid the entrepreneur. The fact that they offer a free logo builder is just one example of that. Continuously reinvesting back into the product to make the program even more inclusive and streamlined just makes that much better of a UX.
